Oklahoma Deer Season 2026: Gun Opener Nov 21, Bow Oct 1

Oklahoma's 2026-27 deer seasons are set: archery runs October 1, 2026 through January 15, 2027, youth gun runs October 16-18, muzzleloader runs October 24 through November 1, the regular gun season runs November 21 through December 6, and the holiday antlerless gun season runs December 18-31. These dates come from the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation's official deer season regulations.

01Oklahoma Deer Season Dates, 2026-27

The combined season limit is six deer, no more than two antlered, across archery, youth gun, muzzleloader and gun seasons. Deer taken January 1-15, 2027 count toward the 2026 limit; holiday antlerless deer and controlled-hunt deer do not count against the six.

02Zones and Antlerless Rules

Antlerless harvest during firearm seasons is governed by Oklahoma's ten antlerless zones. Broadly: Zones 2, 7 and 8 allow four antlerless deer in muzzleloader and gun seasons; Zones 3, 4, 5, 6 and 9 allow two; Zones 1 and 10 allow one (Zone 1 is closed to antlerless muzzleloader harvest and closed for the holiday season). Antlerless mule deer are protected in every firearm season, and public lands often carry tighter limits — check the special area regulations for any WMA you hunt. If you hunt Cimarron, Texas, Woodward, Major or Woods counties, read the CWD Selective Surveillance Area rules before transporting a carcass.

03Licenses and the Basics

Residents need an annual hunting license plus a deer license for each season hunted; nonresidents need the nonresident annual hunting license plus nonresident deer licenses (the 5-day nonresident license is not valid for deer). Youth super licenses bundle things for hunters 17 and under, and the youth gun season requires a non-hunting adult chaperone. Everything is sold through Go Outdoors Oklahoma. ODWC has also been actively encouraging doe harvest — bag limits and open antlerless days are more liberal than they were a decade ago, and the December holiday season exists specifically to add antlerless opportunity.

Oklahoma's zone antlerless day listings are updated as the season approaches, and CWD surveillance area rules can shift between printings. Confirm every date, zone limit and public-land exception before you hunt on the ODWC deer season page (re-checked August 16, 2026). The ODWC page and the current Oklahoma Hunting Regulations Guide are the versions that count in the field — where they disagree with anything on this page, they win. A deer taken on the wrong day or under the wrong zone's limit is a citation, not a paperwork problem.
