Trail-Camera Analysis: Status Tiles & AI Credits
What each trail-camera photo status means — Not analyzed, Queued, Reading, AI %, No animal found, Failed — and exactly when an AI credit gets spent.
Every trail-camera photo in your gallery carries a status chip in the corner — a quick read on where that photo stands in AI analysis without opening it. Here's what each one means, and when your AI credits actually get spent.
01The six statuses
- Not analyzed — you haven't asked the AI to look at this photo yet. No credit spent, nothing queued.
- Queued — you tapped Analyze (on one photo, a batch selection, or everything pending) and the request is recorded on your account. A worker hasn't picked it up yet.
- Reading (spinner) — a worker has this photo right now and is calling the model.
- AI <confidence>% — done, and the model named a species. The percentage is how confident the model is in that call — tap the photo for the full breakdown, or ask for another read if it looks wrong.
- No animal found — done. The model looked and didn't find anything. That's a finished result, not a stuck one — ask for another read from the photo if you think it missed something.
- Failed — retry — analysis didn't go through after several attempts. Tap Analyze on the photo to try again.
02When a credit gets spent
Tapping Analyze doesn't spend a credit by itself — it queues the request. A credit is only spent the moment a photo is actually read and a result comes back. Queue ten photos and only six get read before you move on? You're billed for six, not ten.
If your credit balance runs out before every queued photo in a batch gets read, the rest show Failed — retry instead of sitting stuck with nothing to show for it. Nothing was charged for those. Once you've got credits again — next month's refresh, or an upgrade — tap Analyze and only the newly-read photos get billed. See AI & Trail Cameras for your monthly credit allowance.
03What "queued" actually means
Tapping Analyze doesn't run a script that lives only in your browser tab — the request is recorded on your account the instant you tap it. If your connection drops or you navigate away right after, the photo stays Queued; it doesn't reset to Not analyzed and you don't lose your place.
Right now, the actual reading of queued photos happens while your gallery tab stays open — that's what's driving the queue through. For a large batch, leave the tab open until it clears rather than closing it partway through.
